I knew a woman once, who told me she had tried to commit suicide by jumping from a bridge. She had no memory of it, and that was a blessing, because her sister told me there had been video coverage of the incident and there were people in the crowd yelling for her to jump. Imagine, yelling for her to jump!? If there’s a time this woman decides she wants to remember, and this is usually the case, just think of the sounds, words and images she’ll find, and that will be her only memory of the incident for the rest of her life. A memory created by others reporting from their perspective.
I wrote this post with that story in mind because now that we’ve ramped up the struggle with the NRA, who wants mental health to take a fall for the ownership of items like Assault Rifles. The question begs asking, is the NRA saying that the homicides occurred due to the owners having mental illness, (which by law a person with a felony or a history of mental illness is prohibited by law to own a gun)?
Now the DSM 5 wants to make grief a classification of mental illness. I guess the NRA will be out of members soon if that comes to fruition. Tell me, in this world today how many people don’t suffer from grief at one point or another? And is America coming to the point that the inmates are truly running the asylum?
Also, please go and read about the ACHE ACT. Call your Representatives and ask them to support and sign on to this life saving bill! Together we can make a difference for many generations to come!
