Romney went on: “[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” Mother Jones has identified the event at which Willard was speaking to people who evidently feel they are our betters because they’ve “taken responsibility”. Here is the link and the update on where this titanic talk took place. [UPDATE: We can now report that this fundraiser was held at the Boca Raton home of controversial private equity manager Marc Leder on May 17 and we've removed the blurring from the video. See the original blurred videos here.]
Marc Leder, who’s philosophy on the economy is right in line with Willard’s has been quoted saying, “When asked how the economy affects Sun Capital Partners, Inc.’s business by Mergers & Acquisitions, Leder has been quoted as stating: “There are cyclical industries that may be facing a downturn [in an improving economy]. You’ve got companies with liquidity issues, or those that have done a poor job consolidating facilities. Maybe they stumble when it comes to upgrading their IT system, or they may do a poorly conceived add-on or acquisition. There are a lot of reasons why a company, although a good business, could be distressed and meet our criteria [for purchase].” Now why would Willard be talking like this in the video to someone who wants the economy to bottom out? ”Let them eat cake” idealism of these men will make sure that the man with the gold makes the rules because they take “responsibility” for their lives.
